Navigation and Product Search Configuration

Overview

This video explores two key configurations in Merchandiser Admin: managing the navigation menu through the Merchandiser navigation extension, and controlling product search behavior through the product extension. The first section shows how to disable features and add new links in the left navigation, and the second shows how to configure the columns and search behavior of the product data table.

Merchandiser Admin – Navigation Extension

The newly introduced merchandiserNavigationExtension store property manages the navigation menu items available to merchandisers. Before any changes, the navigation has a Pricing section with options such as Price List, Prices and Price Rules. After adding the extension and updating the required property values, specific features can be disabled and new links and functionality added to suit business needs. In the JSON, disableFeature lists the features to turn off, and links adds new entries, each with a key, label, link, parent link, base page, page title and visibility. In the example, priceList is disabled and a new Reports section is added under Merchandiser > Pricing.

Merchandiser Admin – Updated Navigation

Once the changes are saved, the Merchandiser Admin navigation updates accordingly. Under Pricing, the Price List option is no longer visible, the Prices and Price Rules options remain, and the newly added Reports section is available.

Merchandiser Admin – Product Search Configuration

Product search behavior and data table fields are managed through the productsExtension store property. In dataTable, defaultColumns sets the default columns shown in the product data table, including each column’s name, label and type, and features such as filter, sort and search through enableFilter, enableSort and enableSearch. Columns can also have filter select options, for example for product type values such as Bundle, Fixed Bundle, Kit, Fixed Kit and Collection. additionalColumns adds more fields, such as Updated By and Price, to further enhance the product search experience. The configuration is applied and shown on the Merchandiser Admin Search Products page.
