Overview

This video shows how a CSR admin uses the newly introduced categoriesExtension store property to customize the Categories listing page in Merchandiser Admin. The property is added in the store’s Advanced properties, and its JSON shows or hides the action buttons, configures the grid columns, hides fields in the category creation drawer and defines custom actions. The video then compares a store where the extension is not configured with one where it is.

CSR Admin – Action Buttons

Add the categoriesExtension property with the required JSON. The admin can hide the Import action with hideImport, hide the Export action with hideExport, and hide the Create Category button with hideCreateCategory.

CSR Admin – Grid Columns and Drawer Fields

displayCategoryColumns configures the default display columns in the grid, such as Name, Semantic ID, Visible and Status, each with a label, key, type and size. hideFieldsForCreateCategory lists the fields to hide in the category creation drawer, such as categoryName, categoryId, parentCategory and description.

CSR Admin – Custom Actions

The actions property defines custom actions for the category listing, such as a Refresh Products bulk action.

Merchandiser Admin – Categories Listing Before and After

In a store where the extension isn’t configured, the Import and Export buttons remain visible, and the option to create a category is available with all columns. Once the extension is configured, the hidden options are no longer visible to the CSR user, and any custom actions defined become available.
