Managing Categories

A category is a group of similar or related products. It appears as part of the navigation tree in the Storefront. The products are grouped within the category and assigned with creatives and template via milestone. The categories are organized within the site navigation to display the appropriate navigation tree structure in the Storefront.

Creating a category structure for your product list helps you assign products to category.
The following is the Category listing page in the Simba application:

Multiple locale support is provided for Categories. By default, all tabs in the Category pages will display the details of the default locale. For more information, refer to Managing Locale Specific Fields.

In the Categories page, you can perform the following:

Note: You can use the VIEW filter to select columns to display in the Categories page. For more information, see View Selected Columns in Presets.

Search for Category

You can search for categories in the Categories page.image

View Categories

You can search for a category and view the details in the Category Details page.

To view categories,

  1. Click Categories in the left navigation menu. The Categories page displays the list of categories.

    Note: You can rearrange the categories by using  the drag and drop icon against a particular category.
  2. Search for a specific category. For more information, refer to search for a category.
  3. Click on the Edit icon against a Category Name to view the details.

Preview in PLP

Simba Admin allows you to preview products in a category.

To view the products associated with the category, click the  Eye icon against a category.

The Product List Page appears.

Add a Category

You can add a category using the ADD CATEGORY button.

Note: You can map the Products into the Parent Category to enable view of child category Products.

To add a category,

  1. Log in to the Simba Application with valid credentials provided to you.
  2. Click Categories in the left navigation panel. The Categories page is displayed.

  3. Click the ADD CATEGORY button.
    Note: Alternatively, click the  Plus icon against the category to create a subcategory. For more information, refer to Create Subcategory.
    The Add category pop-up is displayed.

  4. Enter the field details.
    The following table provides the field details for adding a category:

    Field

    Description

    Category Name

    Enter the category name.

    Add a Category to the root

    Enable this checkbox to add category to the root. By default, this is selected.

    Parent

    Select the parent for the category to be added.

    Status

    Select the status for the category.

    • Online: category in use
    • Offline: category not in use
    • Preview: category to view prior to use

    User Segment

    Select the user segment for the category from the drop-down list.

    Description

    Enter the description for the category.

    Note: To reset the field details, click CLEAR.

  5. Click ADD DETAILS to add details to the category.
    Note: Click ADD CATEGORY to add the category.
  6. Enter the details in the Details, Assets, SEO, and Category additional tab. For field details, refer to Configure Category Details Table.
  7. Click SAVE. The category is added to the list.

Edit a Category

You can edit a category using the Edit icon.

To edit a category,

  1. Log in to the Simba Application with valid credentials provided to you. 
  2. Click Categories in the left navigation panel. The Categories page is displayed.

    Note: You can rearrange the categories by using the drag and drop handle icon against a particular category.
  3. In the Categories page, search for the category to edit the details.
  4. Click the Arrow icon against the category to view the edit option.
  5. Click the Edit icon against the category.

  6. Edit the field details. For field details, refer to Configure Category Details Table.
  7. Click SAVE. The changes to the category are saved.

Configure Category Details Table

Note: Multiple locale support is provided for fields in the Category. By default, all tabs in the pages will display the details of the default locale. For more information, refer to Managing Locale Specific Fields.
The following table provides the field description for editing a category:

Description

DETAILS tab

In this tab, you can add the category details:

  • Name: Edit the name of the category.
  • Add a Category to the root: Select or deselect the checkbox. By default, this is selected.
  • Parent: Select the parent for the category.
  • User Segment: Select the user segment for the category.
    • Status: Select the status for the category.
  • Description: Edit the description for the category.
  • ADD PRODUCT: Enter product ID’s separated by comma. The added products are displayed as a card view showing product information such as Product Image, Product ID, Product Name in the Details tab.

Note: To add products, click PRODUCT SELECTOR. For more information, see Add Products using Product Selector.

ASSET tab

Drag and drop images, videos, and documents to upload. You can use the BROWSE button to select files from your computer.

SEO tab

In this tab, you can fill the following details:

  • Meta Title: Edit the meta title for the category.
  • SERP Simulator: Edit the SERP simulator.
  • Canonical URL: Edit the canonical URL.
  • Keyword: Edit the keyword for the category.
  • Semantic ID: Displays the semantic ID for the category. By default, when a category is added, a semantic ID is created based on the category name.
  • Description: Edit the description for the category.

Category Additional Tab

This tab displays the category attributes. Only active categories will be displayed in this tab. For more information, refer to Manage Category Attributes.
Note:

  • You can include locale specific values for the category attributes.
  • All locale specific fields can be edited for other locales by turning off the Use Default Value checkbox. For more information, refer to Managing Locale Specific Fields.

Create Subcategory

You can create a subcategory under a selected parent using the   Plus icon. You can configure levels of sub-category under a root category.

To create a subcategory,

  1. Log in to the Simba Application with valid credentials provided to you.
  2. Click Categories in the left navigation panel. The Categories page is displayed.

  3. Search for a category to clone.
  4. Click the Plus icon next to the category.
    The Add Category pop-up is displayed.

  5. Enter the Category Name for the category.
  6. Click ADD DETAILS to add details to the category.
    Note: Click ADD CATEGORY to add the category.
  7. Enter the details in the Details, Assets, SEO, and Category additional tab. For field details, refer to Configure Category Details Table.
  8. Click SAVE.
    The subcategory is created under the parent.

Add Products Using the Product Selector

You can add products to the category using the PRODUCT SELECTOR button.

To add product using the product selector,

  1. Log in to the Simba Application with valid credentials provided to you.
  2. Click Categories in the left navigation panel. The Categories page is displayed.
  3. In the Categories page, search for the category to edit the details.
  4. Click  the Edit icon against the category.
    The Details tab of the category is displayed.
  5. In the Add Product section, click PRODUCT SELECTOR.
    The Products List overlay is displayed.

    Note: You can search for products using Product ID & Name in the Search text box.
  6. Select the product from the list.
  7. Click ADD PRODUCT. The selected products are added to the category.

    Note: Alternatively, you can enter multiple product IDs separated by a comma.

Manage Category Assets

You can edit asset details, move images, delete images, and download images in the ASSETS tab of the Category Details page.
